Martell Presents the Third Annual ODYSSEY Awards Gala

on Sunday, November 7th, 2004 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre

ODYSSEY Award Honorees include Kurtis Blow - Hip-Hop Pioneer,

Roxanne Shante, The First Lady of Hip-Hop, MC Lyte - Rapper/Actress,

The RZA - filmmaker and member of The Wu-Tang Clan, and Russell Simmons - Hip-Hop Mogul

Representatives of New York State Senator David Paterson's Office and the Office of the Manhattan Borough President, C. Virginia Fields, will present proclamations to the Hip-Hop Association

New York, NY- October 29, 2004 - This premiere gala, sponsored by Martell, will be held at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Symphony Space (2537 Broadway at 95th Street, NYC) on Sunday, November 7th, 2004 at 7pm. Poet/actor muMs from HBO's "Oz" and "Def Poetry" will be the evening host.

This signature event will also feature appearances and performances by Hip-Hop heavyweights and industry professionals including: UTFO, DJ Kool Herc, Brand Nubian, AJ of BET's “106 & Park”, Sway of MTV, Keith Murray, JoJo, Actress Regina Hall, Film Producer Lee Daniels, Parrish Smith of EPMD), DJ Honda, Medusa, DJ's Teddy Ted & Special K “The Awesome Two”, D Nice, Master Ace, Jean Grae, Rahzel, and actors Jamie Hector and Kelli Brown from HBO's “The Wire”.

The ODYSSEY Awards concludes the weeklong Third Annual H2O [Hip-Hop Odyssey] International Film Festival, to be held November 1st - 7th at The Bronx Museum of Arts. The ODYSSEY Awards was created to recognize today's hottest Hip-Hop filmmakers, industry professionals and pioneers. Awards will be presented to winning films in the following categories: Best Documentary Feature, Best Documentary Short, Freestyle Experimental, Under The Influence, Best Narrative Short, and Freshest Youth Awards.
